Outback Mates.
It all started when...
Outback Mates came about as Michelle is a member of the Outback Queensland Tourism Board, for the Outback Queensland Tourism Association (OQTA). She joined the Board as its media representative for advice on all things related to publishing.
A little about the program and the magazine...
As the OQTA has a loyalty system called Outback Mates (a card that members can use for discounts, on anything from campgrounds to food and petrol purchases), Chelle suggested the creation of a magazine that the members of Outback Mates would love to read before and during their travels. The main demographic is the 'Grey Nomad' audience and so the magazine is a colourful, easily digestible (for fun reading while on the road) magazine that captures the spirit of the Outback and the many people who are proud to call it home. The stories delve into the history and heritage of Outback Queensland, while also showcasing its modern-day attractions, such as luxurious outback lodges, great pubs, restaurants and galleries, the Stockman's Hall of Fame, the Age of Dinosaurs Museum. It's a light-hearted, informative read that supports local communities and inspires others to get out there into the Queensland Outback.
